Crimson King Maple

Maple Acer Platanoides is known for its dramatic dark red foliage in spring becoming crimson purple during summer and autumn. This is a fast growing tree which can get quite large with a handsome rounded crown. This Crimson King Maple also has clusters of small yellow flowers in spring time therefore offering some early garden colour. It contrasts well when planted with other maple trees like Princeton Gold Maple or Drummondi. This Crimson Maple is a very popular tree as it does so well in Irish conditions and likes most well drained soils. At Doonwood Nurseries, our  Crimson King Maple  trees are supplied as healthy 6 foot plants but these beautiful Acers can be expected to grow to about 6 metres high and 4 metres wide after 20 years.
