It produces large, double, pink flowers followed swiftly by bronzy leaves which turn green in summer and then bright orange in autumn. In 20 years the Kanzan will be approximately 7 metres high and 3 metres wide. Flowering cherry trees are primarily grown for their spring colour however they also have outstanding autumn colour on their leaves. There is a spot for a flowering cherry in most gardens!

This beautiful tree therefore offers colour from early spring well into autumn and this makes it a lovely addition to any garden. It was developed in the Edo period in Japan as a result of multiple hybrids based on the Oshima cherry. It is a deciduous tree that likes moist but well drained soil. The Pink Flowering Cherry is a quick growing tree. After 20 years it can reach sizes of approximately 7 metres high and 3 metres wide.
