Magnolia Susan

We are now stocking the Magnolia Susan at Doonwood Nurseries. This Magnolia is a small to medium sized tree with long lasting, upright, fragrant reddish-purple flowers in mid to late spring. It grows to approximately 4 metres after 20 years. It performs best if grown in moist, humus-rich, well-drained neutral to acid soil in sun or partial shade. Late frosts may damage flower buds. Keep sheltered from cold winds. Magnolia Susan can also make a fine specimen in shrubs or borders. It is slow growing and deciduous making it perfect for small gardens. Magnolia Susan starts flowering early in life and needs little pruning (best done in midsummer, when the plant is in full leaf)
